Today, The Greens have announced our plan to invest $3 Billion in our WA public hospitals over the next ten years.
I’m really proud that this will see a big investment in our local public hospitals, including Royal Perth Hospital.
If you talk to anyone who has had to spend time in Royal Perth Hospital, they share how amazing the healthcare workforce is, but in the next breath, they share that they are concerned about how dilapidated Royal Perth Hospital has become.
It’s not acceptable that Royal Perth Hospital has been neglected for decades by State and Federal Governments. Governments need to get on and invest in our inner city hospital. As more people present to the Royal Perth emergency department, our community expects a greater level of investment and this is what the Greens have committed to doing.
I’d like to see Royal Perth Hospital resourced to be one of the best hospitals in the world. Our inner-city hospital should be able to offer a great range of free health services and our health workforce should be given the best possible facilities that they need to do their job.
In a wealthy place like Australia, we all deserve better. We deserve big corporations paying a bit more tax so we can get the things we need to live a good life. The Greens have a comprehensive public health platform, with the Greens plan for Perth being an investment in prevention, bringing down the cost of seeing the GP, and directly investing in our local hospitals.
The Greens have a bold plan that will improve the health of our community, and bring down the cost of living. Including:
- Getting Dental and more Mental Healthcare Into Medicare
- Free Local Healthcare Clinics in WA: The Greens will establish at least 96 new Free Local Healthcare Clinics across Western Australia with government-employed healthcare professionals providing free services.
- Triple the bulk-billing incentive for all: The Greens will ensure everyone, and not just specific cohorts, can access a bulk-billed GP appointment in private practice by tripling the bulk-billing incentive for everyone with a Medicare card.
I’ve spoken to nurses working at Royal Perth Hospital who feel completely overwhelmed and undervalued. They’ve shared that emergency admissions are on the rise but resources aren’t keeping up.
The Greens Plan for Perth includes building 6 new free healthcare clinics. This will mean our community can access General Practitioners, Dentists, Psychologists and Nurse Practitioners without worrying about the out-of-pocket cost.
